Foxy Mama

Most of you have heard about the fox that raised four kits on the ranch this spring and summer. She started hanging round the Estes cabin in early May. Foxy slept right outside my kitchen window. I really enjoyed her company and she seemed to like being near me. Three or four weeks after the fox showed up I started hearing squeaky sounds coming from the floorboards of the Robins Nest cabin. I was hopeful we would be enjoying fox kits. One day I came out the back door of Estes and Foxy popped out from under Robins Nest (a couple feet from me) with 3 fuzzy kits hanging off her teats. She looked up at me with tired eyes and a sort of "well, here they are" expression. I just stood and enjoyed that moment for a minute or two before sharing her with the rest of the staff.

Foxy Mama and her kids entertained us all for most of the summer.
